Playback singer Vani Jayaram passes away

Playback singer Vani Jayaram, who has sung more than 10,000 songs in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu languages, passed away in Chennai today. Film personalities and music lovers have condoled her death.


Chennai: Legendary playback singer Vani Jayaram passed away at the age of 78 in Chennai. Her demise has caused grief among the fans.



Vani Jayaram's voice is the magical voice that mesmerized everyone in her very first song "Malligai En Mannan Mayankum". In her very first song, she made Tamil hearts fall in love and became a leading singer.

After that, it would not be an exaggeration to say that songs like Yaelu Swarangal, Ennulle engum yaengum geetham, Kavithai kaelungal karuvil piranthathu Ragam, have transmitted various emotions...

She made her acting debut in 1971 with the song 'Bhole Re Pappi Hara' from the Hindi film 'Kutty', which was originally a Tamil song.

Vani Jayaram, who became a popular singer in Hindi cinema, made her debut in the Tamil film industry in 1974 with the song "Malligai En Mannan Mayankum" written by poet Vali in the movie "Theergasumangali".

Vani Jayaram became an indispensable voice in the Indian music world with background songs in various languages like Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. She has sung more than 10,000 songs in more than 1,000 films with her melodious voice.



Vani Jayaram has also won the National Award for Best Female Playback Singer and various state awards. She was also just few days back awarded the Padma Bhushan.

In this case, Vani Jayaram passed away at her home in Nungambakkam, Chennai. Political leaders, film personalities and fans have condoled his death.

It is said that the woman, who works in her house today, wasn’t opened the door when she came home and knocked on the door. On suspicion, she broke open the door and went inside and found Vani Jayaram lying on the head with a bruise on her head.

While she was rescued and taken to a hospital, the doctors who examined her said that she died on the way. Investigation regarding the circumstances surrounding her death are being conducted.
