'Paravai Kavadi’ and offering of 1008 milk pots mark 'Thaipoosam' festival in Valparai Subramania Swamy temple

During the Thaipoosam festival held at the Subramania Swamy temple in Valparai, devotees paid their obeisance to the almighty offering 1008 milk pots, and taking “Paravai Kavadi”.



Coimbatore: The Festival of Thaipoosam was celebrated with religious fervour at the Subramania Swamy Temple at Valparai in Coimbatore district.



The Thaipoosam festival began with the flag hoisting at Subramanya Swamy temple on May 1.



In the meantime, the main event of the temple, Thirukkalyanam, was held on the 4th of this month.



Devotees belonging to the “ Om Shakthi” worship group took 1008 milk pots on Thaipoosam day Following this, the devotees of Lord Muruga took the “Anga Azhagu Paravai Kavadi” from Valparai Nallakathu estate ground and passed through the main streets of the city.



The devotees chanted ‘Arogara’ and reached the Subramania Swamy temple with the kavadi offerings.
