Thudiyalur police arrested grocery shop owners Devaraj and Muthusamy of Kavundampalayam for selling gutka and pan masala products, which have been banned by the Tamil Nadu government.
Coimbatore: The Thudiyalur police received a tip-off that some people were selling gutka and pan masala banned by the Tamil Nadu government in the areas under Thudiyalur police station limits.
Following this, a team led by Thudiyalur police sub-inspector Guruchandravadivel raided grocery shops in the Kavundampalayam area of Coimbatore.
It was then confirmed that the highly addictive gutka and pan masala items banned by the Tamil Nadu government were being sold in the grocery shops of Devaraj and Muthusamy.
The police arrested the grocery shop owners and seized 5 kg packets of gutka and pan masala from them.
Following this, a team led by Thudiyalur police sub-inspector Guruchandravadivel raided grocery shops in the Kavundampalayam area of Coimbatore.
