The Animal Welfare Board has announced that it is withdrawing the 'Cow Hug Day' notification intended to displace Valentine's Day on February 14, following memes and strong criticism against the Animal Welfare Board's announcement.

In a statement, the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) had issued a notification on Thursday stating that 'Cow Hug Day' should be celebrated on February 14, which is celebrated as Valentine's Day across the world. "As per the order of the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, a circular issued by the Animal Welfare Board of India to celebrate 'Cow Hug Day' on February 14 is being withdrawn," stated the Animal Welfare Board Secretary, S K Dutta.
