Speaking at the convocation ceremony of a private college in Coimbatore, Governor R N Ravi said it is a matter of great pride that the G-20 summit is being held in India and we are now at an important stage of the country's development trajectory.

The 35th convocation ceremony of PSG College of Arts and Science on Coimbatore-Avinashi Road was held today under the patronage of Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi.
College Principal Brinda and Managing Trustee of PSG Charitable Trust Gopalakrishnan were present on the occasion. Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi presented degrees to 3,877 students and medals to 71 students on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of Tamil Nadu said, "It is a matter of great pride that in today's convocation, a large number of women have graduated and won medals. It is a matter of pride that we are at an important period of development of our country.
Students and youth should be proud of this. Everyone should contribute towards the development of this New India. A strong, capable and inclusive New India is emerging now.
At the international level, the world is watching India closely. India is the fastest growing country in the world economy. The international community sees India as a power to revive the global economy after the Covid pandemic.
India has the largest number of start-ups in the world. More than 90,000 start-ups have emerged now as compared to 500 earlier. It is noteworthy that all this has been created by the youth.
Start-ups are developing a variety of things that are unimaginable, such as rockets, space instruments, and ocean-deep measuring instruments.
India is the largest manufacturing hub in the world. We are currently the second largest mobile phone manufacturer globally. Soon we are going to take the lead in automobile manufacturing as well.
Whenever any country develops, it creates problems among other countries. The best example of this is the growth of Sri Lanka and the economic decline there. The situation favoured China. In this context, It is noteworthy that India has provided economic assistance to help the poor people in Sri Lanka.
At a time when India was growing globally, especially during the Covid pandemic, when people were waiting for a vaccine, the countries that developed the vaccine raised its price and sold it. But, India developed the Covid vaccine on its own and supplied it free of cost to around 150 countries. For this we have to thank our scientists. This is the new India.
Globally, environmental impact is on the rise. India is taking initiatives for alternative energy to guide that as well. Notably, in 2016, when the Prime Minister of India created the Organisation for Solar Energy Use, only a few countries joined in. But today there are 120 countries in that organization. Many countries are waiting in line to join.
Even in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war, when the world was divided into two, India took the right stand and expressed its opinion against the war. It was accepted not only by the two countries but also by the international community.
The two countries agreed to India's demand for a ceasefire when around 10,000 Indians were stranded in Ukraine. All the Indians were rescued safely.
It is a matter of great pride that the G-20 Summit is being held in India, which is being organised by bringing together 20 of the world's most powerful countries to guide the international community. At the G-20 summit, which will be attended by international countries covering 85 per cent of the global economy, India will be promoting global economic growth.
There are various ideas to be put forward.
The programmes are being conducted in 215 regions including Tamil Nadu. Various events are organized to show our culture, our culture, our development and the women power of our country to the foreigners who come to participate in the conference.
During the British rule, India was divided into various parts for administrative reasons. Even after independence, we followed the same. But today, during the tenure of Prime Minister Modi ji, the whole of India is seen as one family. As a result, development projects have reached all areas.
Tamil Nadu, in particular, was unbalanced in the growth rate in north, south, east and west. But now equal opportunities are being offered for all areas.
As a result, open defecation has been completely eliminated in the last eight years. Gas service for cooking has reached all rural areas. Clean drinking water has been provided.
The people's expectation of the government for development has changed and this government is relying on the power of the people and giving opportunities to the people. As a result, India is set to become an economically developed country internationally.
All countries are happy to see India's growth. India is providing development for all without leaving any part behind.
The National Education Policy (NEP) has been designed to create students and youth to face today's competitions and the competitive environment in the future.
It should be implemented by the educational institutions at the earliest and make the youth not just paper-borne graduates but also graduates who are eligible for any job.
Educational institutions and young people need to be involved in activities such as research, discovering new things, creating new things, etc. These will take India on the path of development."
