Newly-wed couple takes refuge in Palladam court fearing parents’ reprisal, Judge pronounces their marriage legally valid

Darshini and Chandru, a newly-wed love couple took shelter in the Palladam combined court last night fearing their parents' reprisal for tying the knot.


Tirupur: Chandru is the son of Balasundaram, a native of Akhilandapuram village in Palladam Taluk of Tiruppur district and Darshini is the daughter of Balasubramaniyam of the same village.

The pair has fallen in love and is in a relationship for the past three years. While Chandru works in a private firm and Dharshini, has completed her college studies.

When Dharshini's parents came to know about the love affair, they objected to it. Subsequently

Dharshini was confined in her parent's house a week ago and her movements were watched over..

When Darshini called Chandru over the phone and asked him to rescue her, they decided to get married.

In this scenario, Darshini's parents lodged a police complaint at the Avinasipalayam police station after their daughter left the house.



In the meanwhile, Chandru and Dharshini took refuge in the Palladam combined court last night after solemnizing their marriage and registering it in Palani.



The judge, who heard their case ruled that as both of them are majors and married as per their own wishes, they should be allowed to live as man and wife and pronounced the marriage as a legally valid one.

Following this, the Palladam police sent the newlyweds to their home in their village.
