Ku. Ramakrittinan general secretary of TPDK urged Tamil Nadu government to file a case in Supreme Court to stop the construction of check dams in Bhavani River in Kerala.
When speaking to the press in Coimbatore TPDK party's general secretary Ku. Ramakrittinan said “Kerala government has completed the construction of check dam across the Bhavani River in Thekkuvattai. The Kerala government has also planned to build dams at 6 places across the Bhavani River.”
“These dams are being constructed despite the farmers from Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur organising protests against the construction of the check dams. The Tamil Nadu government failed to file and conduct a case immediately. This has led to failure in obtaining a stay order.”
“As a person from west zone of Tamil Nadu has now become the chief minister he should take steps to file a new petition in the Supreme Court.”
“An all party meeting will be conducted at the DMK headquarters in the city on February 19th to discuss the possibility of blocking all the roads which pass through Tamil Nadu connecting Kerala. A discussion will be held to plan for a protest by organising farmers and people from Tirupur, Coimbatore, Erode districts.”
