A woman ex- convict, given Rs.25,000 as a measure of rehabilitation by a philanthropist

Sarasa alias Saraswathi hails from Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore district. She was a ganja peddler and had several cases registered against her.


Coimbaore: A monetary assistance of Rs 25,000 was extended to Saraswathi, an ex- convict Periyanaickenpalayam area of Coimbatore.

Top police officials congratulated the volunteers who helped in the rehabilitation.

Sarasa alias Saraswathi hails from Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore district. She was a ganja peddler and had several cases registered against her.

To rehabilitate the woman, and thanks to the efforts of Periyanaickenpalayam Deputy Superintendent of Police Namasivayam Saraswathi, the amount of Rs.25,000/- was extended the financial assistance to run a business.

An Alumni of a school, who studied in 1987-1988 in the Pioneer school in the area came forward to help the woman.

Police Inspector Damodaran of Periyanaickenpalayam police station handed over the amount.

Representatives of the alumni of the school were also present on the occasion. The help of the alumni was greatly appreciated by the top police officers.

It is to be noted that Sarasa alias Saraswati had been rehabilitated as she had no cases against her for the last three years.

Police officials expressed hope that this would help her to lead a peaceful life.
