Thousands participate in Mulanoor Vanchiamman Temple Car festival near Mulanur

More than 10,000 people participated in the special annadhanam held at the temple on the occasion of the chariot festival.


Tirupur: A large number of devotes pulled the Vanjiamman temple car at Mulanur in Tirupur district. They sprinkled salt, pepper and millet on the goddess and worshipped her with reverence.

The Mulanur Vanjiamman Temple, which is under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, is patronized by the Kongu, Cheralan and Poosan clans.

The 41st annual car festival and ‘laksharchana’ festival of the temple began yesterday with kalasa pooja, yaga abhishekam and deeparadhana.

The day before yesterday, at 5 a.m., the Amman appearing on car ceremony was held and at 9 a.m., the ‘Poovodu eduthal’ ceremony was held. After 8 p.m., coconuts were broken in front of the car on behalf of Kongu, Cheralaan, and Poosan clan.



Later, Ramanathan, Ramasamy and other members of the clan, DMK south District secretary L Padmanabhan, Moolanur secretary Palanisamy Durai and others inaugurated the car festival.

More than 10,000 people participated in the special annadhanam held at the temple on the occasion of the chariot festival.

The arrangements for the car festival were made by Mulanur Vanchiamman Temple Kongu, Cheralan, Poosan Charitable Trust.
