Video of Makhna elephant's tryst on railway track goes viral on social media

In the video, the Makhna elephant was seen standing right in the middle of the tracks near Madukkarai in Coimbatore, while the Forest Department officials were seen quickly chasing the elephant away before a speeding train passed by.


Coimbatore: The Makhna elephant from Dharmapuri district which was captured on February 6 and released in Varakaliyar area of the Coimbatore forest range, left the forest again on February 19 and was seen roaming through Pollachi's Anaimalai, Puravipalayam and Kinathukadavu in Madukkarai areas.



On the morning of February 21, the elephant had crossed the banana plantation near Madukkarai and stopped right in the middle of a railway track.

When a moving train was seen unexpectedly on the track, the Forest Department officials acted tactfully and chased away the Makhna elephant in a jiffy, just before the speeding train crossed the track area.

The video of the Makhna elephant standing on the railway track with the forest officials chasing it away just before the speeding train passed by has gone viral on social media.
