Amaravati dam to be opened for irrigation from March 2 to 31 for standing paddy crops

“ The Government has extended the deadline for the release of water from Amaravathi dam for the standing paddy crops in the eight old Raja vaikkal irrigated areas of the system".


Tirupur: The Tamil Nadu government ordered the release of water from the Amaravathi dam in Udumalpet from March 2 to March 31.



The water release should not exceed 453.60 million cusecs.

In a statement, the Tamil Nadu government said:

“ The Government has extended the deadline for the release of water from Amaravathi dam for the standing paddy crops in the eight old Raja vaikkal irrigated areas of the system”.



The water release would be carried out in phases with 10 days of closure of seizures and of 20 days of water release.
