The incursion of wild elephants in the Malukkaiparai Estate area on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border near Valparai has become a frequent phenomenon.

Wild elephants often come out of the forests and stop on the road, blocking vehicles going to Athirapalli falls and motorists are in constant fear due to this.

Around midnight, eight wild elephants entered the residential area of Malukkaiparai Estate and walked on the Valparai road before entering the police station.

The herd of elephants, which roamed around the police station for some time, went back to the forest through the tea garden as the policemen on duty shouted and chased them away.
