Coimbatore: ISIS Khorasan, a terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the Coimbatore car blast and the Mangalore cooker blast in Karnataka

In an article published in its mouthpiece “The Voice of Khorasan,” the terror group has owned up to the plot to trigger a bomb in Coimbatore in October last.

It may be recalled that a car bomb explosion occurred near the Kottai Easwaran temple in the city on October 23 and on the eve of Deepavali last year.

Jameesha Mubeen (29), who triggered the blast died in the impact. Police seized a huge quantity of explosives during raid at his house.

The case has been transferred to the NIA and an investigation is underway.

So far, 11 people have been arrested in connection with the case. It was then reported that Jameesha Mubeen and those arrested had links with the banned ISIS, a terror group.

However, no organization has claimed responsibility for the terror attack for so many months.

"We are responsible for the Coimbatore car bombing and the Mangalore cooker blast in Karnataka," the Islamic State (IS) terror group said in a statement in the magazine.

According to the organisation, two terror attacks were carried out by terrorists belonging to their outfit in south India. Following this, surveillance has been intensified in the city.

"We have brought 200 people under the scanner of suspects for their alleged links with banned organizations in connection with the car blast," the Police said.
