Coimbatore: As part of the prison's rehabilitation measures, the prison authorities in collaboration with the Indian Oil Corporation have constructed a new Petrol bunk at the Siddhapudur road.

This initiative is in addition to the existing fuel station adjacent to the central prison campus wherein more than 30 convicts work on a shift basis, from filling fuel to cash management.

A set of 30 inmates will be employed there.
Prison Superintendent M.Urmila told Simplicity, "About 30 inmates from the prison will be employed at the petrol station. Convicts who have lifetime imprisonment and a few others will be screened under various parameters and then finally 30 inmates would be selected and trained to carry out all the work at the petrol pump."
