Close to 5 lakhs worth of elephant tusk smuggled from Nilgris to Karnataka, offenders arrested

Upon receiving a tip-off, Karnataka Police department arrested three people who were involved in smuggling 5 lakhs worth of Elephant tusk from Cherambadi, Nilgris district to Karnataka. 

Soman (50), s/o.Narayanan, Cherampadi. Mohan Kunjan (45) s/o.Sangoore, Erumadu, Stephen (44) s/o.Jose, Thirusur. Kerala were the accused who were arrested by Inspector Pramod Kumar from Gundalpet and officials from Crime and Special Branch.  

Three pairs of tusks along with a Maruthi van used for smuggling were confiscated by the police. 

One of the offender, Soman had already been booked in 2014 for holding guns without due license by the Cherambadi Police.
