Coimbatore: The general body meeting of the COTMA Association was held at Ganapathy Vaniyar Seva Sangam marriage hall.

The general body meeting of the Coimbatore COTMA Association was held at 10 am today at ganapathi, vaniyar seva sangam marriage hall under the chairmanship of COTMA association president Sivakumar, general secretary Selvaraj and co-president Maheswaran.

The following resolutions were passed at the meeting requesting the Central and State Governments.

Request to the State Government:

As per SIDCO rules, there is a provision that the minimum land size for setting up industrial parks is 10 acres. But in order to help the cottage industry and micro entrepreneurs, the minimum land area for setting up of micro industrial estates should be changed to 2.0 acres and an amendment should be brought in.

There is a provision that a maximum of 75 per cent of the cost of infrastructure of the industrial park i.e. up to Rs 15 crore will be given as subsidy. When this rule is amended and industrial estates are established, 100 per cent subsidy will be given. Micro and cottage entrepreneurs who have not yet been able to set up factories in their own places, shifting their factories from the metropolitan area to the suburbs, they should set up factories on their own land and help them to continue their business.

Though the work of setting up industrial estates on behalf of private organizations is going on, steps should be taken to set up new industrial estates throughout Coimbatore district on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu at the earliest.

On behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, a new bank called Micro Industries Development Bank has been established. Thereby, the micro and cottage entrepreneurs should be assisted by providing loan assistance at low interest rates.

The recent hike in electricity tariff and peak time usage charges are causing immense stress to the entrepreneurs. Even if the increase in the utility charge per unit is acceptable, resolutions were passed to reduce the fixed charges and peak time power utility charges and restore them to the old level.
