Tamil Nadu CM Stalin felicitates the Oscar-winning tribal couple Bomman and Bellie; presents them with 'Pon Aadai' and Rs.1 lakh each

The documentary is about Bomman and Bellie, a tribal couple who took care of a baby elephant abandoned by a herd of elephants in Mudumalai, in Tamil Nadu.



Chennai: Tribal couple Bomman and Belli from Mudumalai, who has been featured in the Oscar-winning documentary 'The Elephant Wishpers', met Chief Minister M K Stalin in Chennai today.

The Chief Minister felicitated them at the Secretariat, and handed them over a cheque for Rs 1 lakh each.



He presented a “Pon Aadai’ to the tribal couple who have garnered the world’s attention.

'The Elephant Wishperers' won the Oscars at the 95th Academy Awardsin Los Angeles, USA.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Opposition Leader Edappadi K Palaniswami and many others greeted the filmmakers. Kartiki Gonsalvesand Guneet Mongo for bringing glory to Tamil Nadu and India.

The documentary is about Bomman and Bellie, the tribal couple who took care of the baby elephant abandoned by a herd of elephants in Mudumalai, in Tamil Nadu.

In the meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin also announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to all the 91 employees of Theppakadu in Mudumalai and Kozhikamuthi Elephant Camp at Anaimalai in appreciation of their services for the upkeep of captive elephants.
