The pit dug to repair the sewage canal near Dharapuram town Kottapulipalayam pirivu on the Tirupur-Dindigul state highway has not been closed even after three months. The public have alleged that motorists are suffering and there is a risk of accidents.
Tirupur: People have alleged that a pit dug to repair a sewage canal on the state highway near Dharapuram in Tirupur district has not been closed for more than three months.
A sewage canal constructed on the side of the Tirupur-Dindigul state highway near Kottapulipalayam pirivu of Dharapuram town and paver block stone installed for pedestrians to walk were found damaged.
In order to correct this, halfways of the Tirupur-Dindigul state highway were blocked and a side-deep pit was dug. It is said that the pit has not been closed even after three months.
Half of the road has been blocked, which is hampering the movement of vehicles. Motorists say that these barricades have been erected during the night hours and they are not at all visible.
It is also said that there is a possibility of accidents.
The state highways department has been indifferent to this. In case of such accidents, when the police register an accident case, the state highways department officials should also be included as accused and a case should be registered.
Further, in order to enable the state highways department administration to pay half of the amount of compensation to the affected person. The public's demand is that provision should be made in the chargesheet filed after the investigation.
