Injured elephant succumbs despite intensive treatment at Anamalai Tiger Reserve

The injured elephant was given intensive treatment and veterinary doctors treated it for the past two days and glucose and medicines were administered to it.



Coimbatore: An injured female wild elephant undergoing treatment for the past three days at Varagaliyar elephant camp near Topslip succumbed to its injuries.

A 15-year-old female wild elephant was brought to the Vargaliyar camp near Topslip on the night of May 17 after it was found to be sick with injuries in the mouth.

The elephant was unable to eat and it was found roaming near the Adimathayanur area of Karamadai forest range near Mettupalayam.



The elephant was given intensive treatment by veterinary doctors for the past two days and glucose and medicines were administered to it.



Coimbatore Circle Chief Conservator of Forests and Director of Anaimalai Tiger Reserve Ramasubramaniyam said that an autopsy will be done before the dead elephant is buried.
