Demanding payment of compensation for standing compensation crops and coconut trees pending for the last three years, on Friday, more than 100 affected farmers tried to lay siege to the Sub-Collector's office in Dharapuram.

He said the government will disburse the compensation immediately within 24 hours. The strike was temporarily called off after it was announced that compensation would be paid.
Moreover, even after more than 20 years of acquisition of land for the construction of Nallathangal dam, the compensation amount should be paid immediately, they said.
