A petition has been filed at the District Collector's Office by the All Christian Federation demanding that a memorial be erected at the Semmozhi Park for Robert Caldwell who had declared Tamil to be the classical language of all Dravidian languages.
Coimbatore: A petition has been filed by the All Christian Federation at the Coimbatore District Collector's office, seeking the erection of a memorial of Robert Caldwell at the proposed site of the Semmozhi Park in Coimbatore.
The petition was submitted under the leadership of Sagayaraj, President of the All Christian Federation, seeking a memorial for Robert Caldwell who had declared that Tamil was the Semmozhi of all Dravidian languages.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin who is supportive of all religions has created a historic record by setting up a Welfare Board for the employees of the Christian Church, similar to the Ulema Welfare Board for Muslims and the Welfare Board for priests in Hindu temples.
"On behalf of the Christian Federation, we would like to express our gratitude to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin and the Minister of Minority Affairs. A memorial should be erected for Robert Caldwell, a Christian missionary who declared that Tamil is the classical language of all Dravidian languages at the site of the Semmozhi Park in Coimbatore, which is a long-standing request of Christians," stated the petition.
