Close to 12.88 acres of land worth Rs. 157.45 crores has been retrieved by the Corporation from the period November 2016 to February 2017. As assured earlier, Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan today convened a meeting at the Corporation Office, Town Hall to discuss in detail the upcoming action plan to transform these retrieved sites into beautiful gardens and nurseries.
Several NGOs, environmentalist, social activists and like-minded individuals were called for the meeting to discuss in detail on their involvement in maintaining those upcoming gardens, herbal nurseries, play areas at the reserve sites. During the brainstorming session, various thoughtful ideas were proposed by the NGOs and the feasibility of implementation was also discussed. The session also had discussions on eliminating usage of plastic bags in the city.

Deputy Commissioner of Corporation P. Gandhimathi, City Engineer Natarajan, Town Planning Officer Sasipriya and other officials were present at the meeting.
