Thol. Thirumavalavan of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) was here in the city to attend various events. When speaking to the press at the Coimbatore airport, Leader of VCK Party said, “The central government has not provided sufficient relief funds for the damages caused by the Vardah cyclone'.
“The central government's act of granting permission to the hydrocarbon exploration project in Pudukottai district is highly condemnable, as the delta region will transform into desert after 25 years. The central government should call off the permission granted to the project and TN government should put pressure on the centre to terminate the project.” he said.
He added that "Crime against women in Tamil Nadu are on a rise. The Tamil Nadu government should pass a law prohibiting honour killing. We expected this law when the case of Elavarasan from Dharmapuri was transferred to CBCID. But now we have to appeal in a higher court against the current judgment'.
'Though conducting secret ballot is not in the rules of the assembly the speaker should have listened to the requests of the opposition party leader, as well. The speaker of the assembly has alleged that DMK party members used words like pronouncing his caste name to abuse him. If the speaker has been shamed in the assembly on caste grounds, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister should have escalated the issue but till now why is the Chief Minister tight-lipped about the issue? Thol. Thirumavalavan questioned.
