Affected public demand Rs 200 crore fraud case in Palladam to be transferred to CBI

The affected people have demanded that the case be transferred to a CBI probe as there has been no headway by the police in arresting those who have cheated them of more than Rs 200 crore in Palladam.

Tirupur: The public has demanded that the case be transferred to the CBI as the police are allegedly negligent in not arresting those involved in a fraud of more than Rs 200 crore.

Vijayakumar and Sivakumar are the sons of Palaniswami of Velappa Goundampalayam near Palladam in Tirupur district.

Both of them claimed to have recruited many people from Tirupur, Coimbatore and Erode districts as partners in the yarn business. They mortgaged the investors’ property deeds and took loans of more than Rs 200 crore from banks.

The victims gheraoed Vijayakumar's house three days ago and staged a protest. Sivakumar, Vijayakumar and his son Rahul Balaji and Praveena claimed that they were being included as business partners. They lodged a complaint with the Palladam police station alleging that they had taken loans of over Rs 200 crore by buying house, land and land deeds and mortgaging them with banks.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered a month later and the Palladam court had issued an arrest warrant a month ago to produce him for questioning. The victims also said that the police were delaying their arrest.

In this case, Kumaresan, a resident of Saibaba Colony in Coimbatore, had lodged a complaint against Praveena. The Palladam police, who had registered a case and were on the lookout for Praveena, arrested her while they were conducting a vehicle check at Palladam on Thursday and produced her before a magistrate and lodged her in the Tirupur women's jail.

In this situation, the affected people who came to the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Palladam on Friday, are protesting day by day.

Praveena, who has been arrested, has been accused of living a luxurious life wearing for a film song in different outfits and posting them on social media reels. They said the police were ignoring the absconding gang of fraudsters by not arresting them and they suspected that the police were supporting the gang. Therefore, the public has demanded a CBI probe into the fraud case.
