JITO Women's Organization Ahimsa Marathon to press for world peace and resistance to violence held in Coimbatore

Thousands of people, irrespective of their caste and creed, participated in the Ahimsa Marathon organized by JITO women's organisation in Coimbatore in three categories to press for world peace and violence.


Coimbatore: Ahimsa Marathon was organised by the JITO Women's Organisation in Coimbatore to highlight world peace and opposition to violence.

The Ahimsa Marathon was held in 22 countries across the world and more than 65 cities in India as a Guinness World Record event. As part of this, a non-violent marathon was held in Coimbatore to protest against violence against women and to emphasise on peace.



Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Padi, City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan and Corporation Commissioner Prathap inaugurated the marathon.

Thousands of people, irrespective of their age, caste, religion and gender, participated in the marathon, which was held in three categories – three, five and ten kilometers – including soldiers and police personnel from the three services of the Indian Army, Navy and The Air Force.

The JITO Ahimsa Marathon in Coimbatore has also entered the Guinness Book of World Records.
