Will Coimbatore's demands continue to be ignored? - MP P R Natarajan condemns Southern railways

Coimbatore MP P R Natarajan has alleged that the BJP government in the Union is running high-cost trains like Vande Bharat without realising the plight of the common man and wanting them to do what public want like Bengaluru night train pending since 2007.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore MP P R Natarajan has alleged that the Union government and the railways continue to ignore the demands of the ordinary people of Coimbatore district.

In a statement, P.R. Natarajan said, "Since Coimbatore city has been identified as a smart city, there is a need to improve all kinds of transport facilities for the people. The night train service between Coimbatore and Bengaluru has been pending since 2007.

For the convenience of traders, traders, entrepreneurs, IT employees, students and the common public going to Bengaluru for work, this night-time Bangalore-Coimbatore train should be allowed to leave.

In 2007, the then Railway Minister announced a new facility of coimbatore-Bengaluru night train service. It's only with the announcement. The BJP government at the Centre and the railways have not taken any initiative so far.

Though the demands of the people of Coimbatore district for the railway sector continue to be put forward, the railways is not bothered about it. At the same time, the Union government is also taking away many existing train services.

For instance, the Coimbatore-Salem passenger train has been suspended for months in the name of railway track maintenance. Similarly, it should be introduced to Chennai from Tiruppur, which is known as Dollar City.

There are demands for the introduction of a new train service from Coimbatore to Chennai-Egmore via Pothanur and Pollachi, thoothukudi and Rameshwaram train services from Coimbatore to Chennai Egmore via Pollachi.

At north Coimbatore railway station, night trains run non-stop. Due to this, the people of R S Puram, Saibaba Colony, Gandhipuram and Goundampalayam areas are facing a major inconvenience.

Therefore, even though the demands for night trains to stop at vadakovai railway station continue to be pressed for, none of them seem to have been heeded by the Union government or the railways.

At the same time, the Modi government at the Centre is keen on running Vande Bharat trains. Ordinary people are being charged so exorbitant that they cannot travel in any way.

At the same time, unreserved general coaches and second class coaches have been reduced in trains going from Coimbatore to Chennai. All the schemes of the Modi government at the Centre are an act of extortion from the people.

It does not listen to any of the demands related to the welfare of the poor and toiling people.

But the BJP is carrying out a deliberate false propaganda that the opposition parties are against development. The people of Coimbatore are well aware of this drama of the BJP.

If the demands of the people of Coimbatore district are not met, we will mobilise the people and launch a massive agitation.
