Auto-lorry collides head-on near Udumalpet - Four people injured

Annadurai (52), a native of Pollachi, was returning from ottanchatram with his wife and daughter in an auto. An auto rickshaw collided head-on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction near Udumalpet. Four persons, including the driver of the auto, were seriously injured in the accident and were admitted to a hospital.



Tirupur: Four persons were seriously injured when an auto collided head-on with a tanker truck near Udumalpet in Tirupur district.

Poomalai hails from MGR Nagar near Pollachi. He is survived by his son Annadurai (52). He, along with his saraswathi (50) and daughter Nandhini (26), had gone in an auto-rickshaw towards Oddanchatram for the naming ceremony of his grandson.

In this case, the trio were returning to Pollachi in an auto rickshaw after the ceremony. The auto was being driven by Gurusamy (50), a native of T Kottampatti in Pollachi.

In the meantime, when the auto came near Lingamanaickenpudur pirivu next to Pethappampatti, the accident occurred when the tanker lorry and the auto, which was on its way from Pollachi to Gudimangalam, collided head-on.

The auto was crushed like papad in the accident. All four people, including the driver of the auto, were seriously injured. In this situation, the neighbours immediately rescued them and sent them to udumalai government hospital. From there, they were sent to Coimbatore for further treatment.

The Gudimangalam police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
