Cobra hiding inside flower pot near Podanur caught and released in forested areas

About 10 days ago, two snakes were caught from the same area and released into the forested areas.



Coimbatore: A four- and- half feet cobra, which was hiding inside a flower pot kept in a house near Thirumalai Nagar in Pothanur was caught and released into forests by the Forest department.

The snake was caught and released in shrub jungle areas adjacent to the Noyyal River on the west bank of Ukkadam Periyakulam.

With the onset of summer, reptiles including snakes, continue to enter residential areas in search of cool and shady places in various parts of the city.



Snake catcher “Snake” Ameen, was engaged to catch the reptile from the house by NGO Green Care. Onlookers including the family were shocked to find that the snake was about four-and-a-half feet long.

About 10 days ago, two snakes were caught from the same area and released into the forested areas.

The residents of the area have demanded that the City Corporation should take steps to catch the snakes in the residential area, where the children will be playing in the evenings, more so during the oncoming vacation, which starts in a week.
