Tirupur: The lawyers in Tirupur staged a hunger strike demanding that Tamil Nadu Assembly enact legislation for the protection of lawyers
Stating that attacks on lawyers have increased in Tamil Nadu in the recent past, the lawyers said they have been instances of brutal attacks on lawyers in various districts.
“A few lawyers have been even murdered by mercenaries” they noted.
The protest was held in front of the Tirupur Corporation office on behalf of the Tirupur District Bar Association.
A large number of lawyers from Tirupur district participated in the hunger strike.
