Youth arrested for stabbing and murdering man near TASMAC outlet in Selvapuram

Coimbatore: Police have arrested Santhosh (26), a resident of Selvapuram from near Karur for stabbing a man to death in front of a TASMAC shop near Selvapuram

A 25-year-old youth, Rahamatullah, was stabbed to death by an unidentified person near Selvapuram yesterday.

The youth who belongs to Kuniamuthur was talking with his friends after consuming liquor near a TASMAC outlet when he came under a knife attack.

Rahamatullah, who was admitted to a CMCH in the city, succumbed to his stab injuries.

The deceased Raghumathulla (29), was a resident of Bharathi Nagar in Kuniyamuthur and was a painter by profession. His wife is Taslima. The couple had been married for 3 years, but they had no issues.

Rahamatullah, a history sheeter had several cases against him, including robbery and cell phone theft. Rahamatullah. was consuming liquor along with his friend Manikandan (23) at a TASMAC bar on Perur Road on Monday Night, when Santhosh (26), a resident of Selvapuram, who also came to the TASMAC bar, picked up a quarrel with Rahamatullah over a phone theft of his friend.

Suspecting that Rahamatullah might have stolen the cell phone, Santhosh entered into an argument with him and in the melee stabbed Rahamatullah in the stomach with the knife he was hiding.

Manikandan, who tried to stop him, also sustained injuries is admitted to the CMcCH. Selvapuram police rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation.

A murder case has been registered and the police arrested the accused from his hiding place in Karur.

The accused was produced in court and remanded in custody.
