Fire breaks out at spinning mill near Udumalpet; Waste cotton worth Rs. 40 lakh destroyed in fire

Waste cotton worth Rs. 40 lakh was destroyed in the fire that broke out in the privately-owned spinning mill located near Palappampatti near Udumalpet.


Tirupur: Firefighters are presently fighting to douse a fire that broke out at a spinning mill near Udumalpet.

A privately-owned spinning mill functioning near Palappampatti near Udumalaipettai in Tirupur district stores waste cotton, the raw material for making yarn, in several layers outside the plant.



A fire broke out unexpectedly amidst the stacked cotton. The Udumalaipettai Fire Department was immediately informed and presently fighting to douse the fire.



Waste bags with cotton worth Rs. 40 lakh were destroyed in the fire.



Moreover, the fire personnel acted swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading inside the plant, thus preventing the fire from spreading to the machines inside the plant.
