Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin today unveiled a 7-feet tall statue of V.O. Chidambaranar at the VOC Ground in Coimbatore at a cost of Rs 40 lakh through video conferencing from Chennai. Later, officials, including the collector, and the public garlanded the statue and paid their respects.
Coimbatore: A 50-feet-long, 45-feet-wide 5-cent plot of land has been allotted at the VOC ground in Coimbatore and the construction of the statue of V.O. Chidambaranar has started and the work was going on.
A sum of Rs.40 lakhs has been allocated by the Information and Public Relations Department for this purpose.
The construction of a 7-feet-tall bronze statue of V.O. Chidambaranar at the ground began in February last year.
Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated the statue through video conferencing from the Secretariat in Chennai today.
The event was attended by Coimbatore District Collector Kranthikumar Pati, Coimbatore Corporation Mayor Kalpana, Corporation Commissioner M Prathap, Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, and councillors.
At that time, they paid floral tributes to the newly opened statue of VOC. This was followed by various organisations They garlanded his statue at the ground and offered floral tributes.
