The Civil Supplies Crime Investigation (CID) police recovered 3 tonnes of ration rice that they were attempting to smuggle to Kerala on the Coimbatore-Selvapuram road in March. Afif Rahman, a native of South Ukkadam, was arrested by police who was absconding in the case.
Coimbatore: Police arrested a man who was absconding in connection with the smuggling of 3 tonnes of ration rice in Coimbatore.
During a vehicle check on the Coimbatore-Selvapuram road in March, the Civil Supplies Crime Branch (CID) police confiscated around three tonnes of ration rice being smuggled to Kerala by truck and arrested the truck driver.
The police were on the lookout for Afif Rahman, a native of South Ukkadam, who is absconding in the case.
In this case, the police arrested Afib Rahman, who was hiding in a private hotel on the Coimbatore-Perur road, today.
It is to be noted that Afif Rahman has been arrested seven times under the Goondas Act.
