Annamalai requests Finance minister to take surge of Rs 2000 notes in Tamil Nadu and protect from DMK

The Reserve Bank of India yesterday issued a notification concerning the exchange of 2000 rupee notes till September 30, 2023. The RBI also asserted that the 2000 rupee notes would remain legal tender beyond that date, and noted that the circulation of this denomination had been halved by the end of 2022-23 compared to the end of 2017-18.

:BJP state president released a statement that On behalf of Tamil Nadu BJP and the people of Tamil Nadu, requesting the Finance Ministry to keep track of the surge of incoming ₹2000 notes from TN through various sources, which the corrupt DMK might exploit to regularise their ill-gotten 2000 notes.

In a constant effort to promote a stable economy and in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India's Clean Note policy, the people of Tamil Nadu enthusiastically welcomed the Reserve Bank of India's notification yesterday on the exchange of 2000 rupee notes till September 30, 2023. The RBI also clarified that the 2000 rupee notes would continue to be legal tender even beyond 30th September 2023, and rightly pointed out that the circulation of the 2000 rupee note has halved by the end of the year 2022-23 compared to the end of 2017-18.

Our Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi's every decision is backed with meticulous planning & detailing, and the people across the country acknowledge the same, as these decisions are always in the best interests of the common people of our country.

As you are aware, DMK politicians are notorious for creating new techniques of corruption and money laundering. One of the Tamil Nadu government's senior ministers stated that the son and son-in-law of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin gained approximately 30,000 crore rupees through corrupt means in just a year.

We anticipate that DMK politicians will use the machinery at their disposal, especially the Co-operative Banks/Societies and TASMAC, to exchange their ill-gotten 2000 rupee notes.

Madam, we request that the Finance Ministry instruct the banks to track the surge of incoming 2000 rupee notes through the above sources.
