The Vaikasi Visakam Festival was held in magnificent style at Sakthimalai Murugan Temple in Kotagiri, Nilgiris district. On this day, a big number of devotees marched along the main streets with milk pots, performing milk, pacharisi flour, panchamirtham, thiruneeru abhishekam, and worshipping with devotion.

Vaikasi Visakam festival is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Muruga. On this occasion, festival celebrations are celebrated in Murugan temples across Tamil Nadu.
On the occasion of Vaikasi Visakam, devotees observe a fast and carry milk pots and worship Lord Muruga. As part of this, Vaikasi Visakam was celebrated at The Sakthimalai Murugan Temple in Kotagiri.
Devotees took out a procession carrying 108 milk pots from the Donnington Vinayagar Temple and came to Sakthimalai. There they performed abishek to the Lord with sesame oil, milk, pacharisi flour, panchamirtham and thiruneeru and worshipped him with devotional fervour.
In the temple, five face lamps were lit, 5 types of oil poured into it, 5 types of flowers were offered to the Lord and 5 types of pacharisi flour, panchamirtham, fruits and kandan's favourite appam, Kandharappam, was offered to the lord.
A large number of devotees participated in this puja and performed kanda kavaca recitation and worshipped Lord Muruga. Following this, prasadam was offered to the devotees.
