Coimbatore: A team led by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Public Accounts Committee Chairman Selvaperunthagai visited the MRI scan room set up at the Coimbatore Government Medical College and Hospital to conduct an inspection.
The inspection was headed by the Chairman of the Committee Selvaperunthagai accompanied by Amman K Arjunan, MLA Saraswathi, Dr. Nirmala, Dean, CMCH, District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati and Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner, M Prathap.

Selvaperunthagai received many complaints from patients regarding the improper infrastructure and maintenance at the hospital premises.
While addressing the media after the inspection, Selvaperunthagai said, "We conducted an investigation at the Government Hospital including the room with the MRI equipment. The CAG had issued a report recommending that the MRI equipment be equipped within 90 days of delivery. There is a need to pave and maintain the basic structures in various areas of the Government Hospital."
Other complaints highlighted were potholes on the road within the hospital premises and improper facilitation at the pediatric emergency unit. Selvaperunthagai added that based on such reports, a direct survey was conducted. He reiterated that action will be taken to discuss and allocate the funds requested by them in the Committee.
