Attempt to kill BJP leader who questioned the closure of sewage canal - Viral video

A video of a BJP functionary trying to kill a BJP functionary at Pongalur near Palladam after he slapped the younger brother of a DMK councillor who had come to close a sewage canal used by the people has gone viral on social media.

Tirupur: In a shocking incident, a BJP leader was tried to kill by a JCB at Pongalur near Palladam after he objected to the closure of a drain.

Selvakumar is a resident of Pongalur near Palladam. He is the OBC zonal president of the BJP. The sewage canal constructed by pongalur panchayat near his house has been around for the past 11 years.

In the same area, Pongalur panchayat vice-president Radhakrishnan has a relative's house. There is a sewage canal near the pongalur panchayat vice-president's relative's residence.

Kathiravan, the younger brother of DMK councillor Loku from Madhapur, brought the JCB belonging to him on behalf of the Pongalur panchayat administration 10 days ago to close it.

Residents of the region allegedly turned away the JCB vehicle in protest of the closure of the sewage canal, which had been in use for 11 years.

In the absence of people in the area on friday, dmk councillor's younger brother Kathiravan has brought in a JCB machine on behalf of the panchayat administration to close the drain. When BJP functionary Selvakumar came, he got into a fight with Kathiravan about the drain closure.

As the conversation heated up, he argued in front of the JCB machine that the drain should not be closed.

In a fit of rage, JCB driver Vasanthakumar and Loku's brother Kathiravan, a DMK corporator, put the JCB on Selvakumar and pushed him for some distance.

Selvakumar was taken to Palladam government hospital for additional treatment before being transferred to Tirupur government hospital.

Palladam and Avinashipalayam police officers who arrived on the scene are checking the true nature of the incident, which has gone viral on social media.

According to locals, the drain lies adjacent to the home of Pongalur panchayat vice-president Ramakrishnan's relative.

Despite repeated complaints to the panchayat administration, no action was taken because the vice-president's relatives were involved in a disagreement and kept it locked up.

On Friday, the JCB tried to kill Selvakumar when he stopped the JCB machine which came to completely close the drain. They said selvakumar was involved in a murderous attack and action should be taken against the panchayat union office officials involved and the JCB driver.

JCB driver Vasanthakumar and Kathiravan, brother of DMK councillor Loku, are undergoing treatment at the Palladam government hospital alleging that they were attacked by the public.

Selvakumar's relatives have lodged a complaint at Avinashipalayam police station against JCB owner DMK councillor Loku, his younger brother Kathiravan, JCB driver Vasanthakumar, Pongalur panchayat vice-president Radhakrishnan and joint block development officer Lakshminarayanan.
