The much-anticipated Lok Sabha elections are just around the corner and states have already begun gearing up for the polls. In Coimbatore district, the first phase of voting machine verification began from today, marking the commencement of election work in the area.

KranthiKumar Pati, District Collector of Coimbatore, inspected the verification of 17,160 EVMs stocked in the Tahsildar's Office of Coimbatore South. A five-member team from Delhi has also arrived to inspect the work. If there are any mechanical faults in these works they will be corrected.
District Collector's Personal Assistant Gunasekaran, Revenue Divisional Officer Pandharinathan and South Tahsildar Vijayalakshmi were present during the inspection. There was also a representative on behalf of each party.
According to the district administration, the work will continue for 20 days. At the same time, the entire room where the EVMs are kept is being monitored through cameras and policemen have also been deployed for security duties.
