Heavy rains lash Valparai area in Coimbatore district

Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister Muthusamy recently visited Valparai in Coimbatore district to review the impact of heavy rains. He was accompanied by 106 personnel of the Disaster Response Force (DRF) who were on standby in case of an emergency.



Coimbatore: Muthusamy, the Minister for Housing and Urban Development in Tamil Nadu, visited Valparai to review the safety measures.



Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister Muthusamy reviewed the effects of heavy rainfall at Valparai, Coimbatore district.



The Minister inspected the area where 106 personnel of the Disaster Response Force (DRF) visited Valparai to take immediate action to save people in case of heavy rainfall.



The minister considered establishing a camp at the Arts College as a precautionary measure to protect the people in the flood-affected area.



The Minister then inspected the flood prone areas of the Koolangal river and the Vazhai Thottam residential area.



Following that, he addressed the media.



I came to Valparai to inspect the activity since the Chief Minister directed me to do so. There have been no rain-related disasters in the Valparai area, and the district administration has taken adequate preparations.

All departments, including the fire department, highway department, and medical department, are on alert, and 106 disaster personnel are on standby with disaster equipment. The tree has fallen in six places and has been fixed immediately; there has been a slight landslide in one or two places and it has also been repaired immediately; and a camp is ready at ten places to accommodate people in case of emergency.

The district collector and officials in Valparai have worked together to resolve any rain-related issues as soon as possible. "I'll inform the chief minister," he replied.
