16 women injured as van overturns near Dharapuram

More than 100 people in five vans from Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district went to the Adhiparasakthi temple in Melmaruvathur and were on their way to the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore when the vehicle met with the accident.

More than 100 people in five vans from Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district went to the Adhiparasakthi temple in Melmaruvathur and were on their way to the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore when the vehicle met with the accident.



While coming from Oddanchatram to Avinasipalayam via the four-lane road, the van lost control of the van and crashed into the agricultural land at Modupatti near Salakandai after the driver suddenly developed a seizure.



At least 16 people, including three children, were injured.



The farmer, who witnessed the accident, immediately informed the Dharapuram government hospital and four 108 ambulances rescued all the 16 through a private ambulance and sent them to Dharapuram government hospital for first treatment.



The injured are being treated intensively.

The Kallimandayam police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
