In order to cope with the increasing prices of tomatoes in the state, the government has decided to provide tomatoes at half their cost at Fair Price shops. 20 Fair Price centres started selling tomatoes at Rs. 60 in Coimbatore, while its retail price is Rs. 120. The major centres included Ramanathapuram, Kavundampalayam, Periyanaickenpalayam and other populated zones.

The Cooperative Society initiated the effort to make basic commodities more affordable, alleviating consumer concerns. It was informed that about 500 kilograms of tomatoes were harvested earlier with an additional amount of yields summed up to the supply across the allocated shops.
