Father arrested for assaulting adopted son with hammer in Coimbatore

Police in Coimbatore have arrested a man who allegedly smashed his adopted son's hand with a hammer in the Maruthamalai area. Govindan got angry and attacked Praveen with a hammer after an argument broke out between the two. Praveen's finger was broken. Following this, he was rescued by the locals and sent to coimbatore government hospital by 108 ambulance for treatment.


Coimbatore: Police have arrested a man who smashed his adopted son's hand with a hammer near Maruthamalai in Coimbatore.

Govindan (40), the son of Chinnasamy, is from Amarjothi Nagar in Vadavalli Maruthamalai, Coimbatore. He married jyothi (38), a previously married woman from the same village, for the second time.

Jyothi has a sixteen-year-old son named Praveen. Due to conflicts between the husband and wife, the pair has been living separately for the past three months. In this situation, Govindan went to Jyothi's house today intoxicated and got into an altercation with her. Govindan also got into a fight with his son Praveen, who came to stop him.

Govindan got angry and attacked Praveen with a hammer after an argument broke out between the two. Praveen's finger was broken. Following this, he was rescued by the locals and sent to coimbatore government hospital by 108 ambulance for treatment. Jyothi also filed a police report in connection with the incident at Vadavalli. Based on the complaint, the police opened an investigation, arrested Govindan, took him to court, and imprisoned him.
