Neeraj Mittal, Chairman and Director, TN Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation inspects Pillur Project-III

This project is being constructed at the cost of Rs.779 crore for the provision and supply of water from the Bhavani River to the newly added areas of the corporation including the areas of Mettupalayam, nellithurai panchayat, Murugan Parisal Thurai, Marudur panchayat, Thandi Perumalpuram and Kattanamalai.


Neeraj Mittal, Chairman & Director, TN Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation inspected the Pillur Project-III along with the Corporation Commissioner M Prathap IAS.



This project is being constructed at the cost of Rs.779 crore for the provision and supply of water from the Bhavani River to the newly added areas of the corporation including the areas of Mettupalayam, nellithurai panchayat, Murugan parisal thurai, Marudur panchayat, Thandi perumalpuram and Kattanamalai.



During the visit, Dr. Neeraj Mittal instructed the district officials to expedite the construction and conduct a trial run before the end of August. Subsequently, the Pillur Project 2 extraction of water from Pillur Dam, a source of drinking water for Coimbatore Corporation was constructed considering the population of the city in 2035.

Dr Neeraj inspected in person the ongoing construction works of this 779 crore project and examined the works of installation of drinking water pipes at the areas of Marudur panchayat Thandiperumalpuram and Kattanamalai he instructed the corporation officials to complete the work on wartime basis along with that he also inspected the headwater station being constructed at an estimation of rupees 139 crores at Mettupalayam and nellithurai.



The design and construction of 178 MLD drinking water treatment plant at a cost of Rs.104.90 crore has reached the final stage. The remaining works have been advised to be completed soon and the quality of the construction work has also been inspected.

The construction of a 900-metre tunnel at a cost of Rs.62.00 crore has been completed in the Kattanmalai area. It has been advised to carry out the work of laying drinking water pipes in the mining area as soon as possible.

Later he examined the ongoing construction of two drinking water collection stations with a capacity of 73 lakh litres at an estimated cost of Rs.104 crores in the Pannimadai area.

Further, observed the pipeline laying works being done from the Parisalthurai area to Pannimadai at a stretch of 9.5 km distance and 8 km distance in the municipal areas and instructed the engineers of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) to complete these works quickly and conduct a test run before the end of August.

Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Drainage Board Chief Engineer, Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer and other officers were part of this inspection.
