Tirupur: Adi Dravidar Welfare Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj has said that the demands for development of Dharapuram municipality will be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister and steps will be taken to fulfill them.
A consultative meeting was held for the councillors for the selection of development works in Dharapuram municipality in Tirupur district.
Minister for Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Kayalvizhi Selvaraj attended the meeting. The meeting, chaired by municipal chairman K Pappu Kannan, was presided over by vice-president Ravichandran and municipal commissioner S M Parijan.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj said that a demand has been made on behalf of the municipality president and councillors that Rs 25 crore will be required from the government for the construction of sewerage, road facilities and drinking water marriage halls in dharapuram municipality area and also for providing infrastructure facilities.
Keeping this in mind, it will be brought to the notice of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin as soon as possible. I will also help in the development of dharapuram upgraded municipality. This is what he said.
Following this, municipal chairman K Pappu Kannan said,
So far, the Government of Tamil Nadu have sanctioned a sum of Rs.12 crores for the municipal development works and various development works have been carried out in the Municipality.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that the municipal president, vice-president and councillors are working day and night to work day and night as a 20-year-old demand. "We thank the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for ordering an honorarium of Rs 5,000 to the councillor, Rs 10,000 to the vice-president and Rs 15,000 to the president.
Moreover, Rs 25 crore is required for urban development. The minister should get the funds as soon as possible. This is what he said.
