Tirupur: 23.5 acres of land worth Rs 1.20 crore belonging to Ranganathaperumal temple near Mulanur has been recovered from encroachment.
The 23.5-acre punjai land belonging to the Vannapatti Ranganatha perumal temple in Komarapalayam village near Mulanoor in Tiruppur district was allegedly under private occupation.
As per the instructions of the Joint Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, the encroached temple land was reclaimed in the presence of P Jayadevi, Assistant Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, Tirupur.
Special Tahsildar Maheswaran, Executive Officer, Inspector and temple staff were present. The land of Ranganatha Perumal temple, which was recovered from the encroachment, is valued at Rs 1.20 crore.
