Tirupur: Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam general secretary Ramakrishnan has criticised Annamalai's padayatra.
Manipur has been witnessing violent incidents over the past two months, with a large number of people losing their lives and physical damage.
A video of tribal women being stripped naked and brought in a procession has also gone viral. Protests are being held across the country against this.
In this context, to highlight the plight of the people of Manipur, on behalf of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, they marched from Thanthai Periyar statue in Tirupur to the corporation office wearing bandages as if they had lost their hands and legs and had injuries all over his body.
Moreover, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam activists, who took out a procession raising slogans against the central government, staged a protest near the corporation office.
Speaking to reporters after the protest, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam general secretary Ramakrishnan said,
Manipur has a voice of support in Tamil Nadu like nowhere else in India.
"It is heartening to note that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has offered shelter and support to the sportspersons of Manipur. Bjp state president Annamalai will go on a padayatra to divert this.
While tears are shedding for the people of Manipur, people are not enjoying Annamalai's padayatra, which will not appeal to the people of Tamil Nadu.
