Makhna elephant caught near Anaimalai left in the Chinnakallar forest

The forest department caught the Makhna elephant, which was threatening the public near Valparai, at Saralapathi area, including the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, by administering an tranquiliser injection and releasing it in the Chinnakallar forest area.



Coimbatore: The forest department caught a Makhna elephant in Saralapathi area of Coimbatore and released it in chinnakallar forest area.

A few months ago, the forest department had caught the Makhna elephant, which was damaging agricultural land in Dharmapuri, with an anaesthesia injection. The elephant was released at Mantri Mattam in Manampalli forest area under Anaimalai Tiger Reserve.

The elephant had been roaming in the forest area for a few months and was again going to the plains of Anaimalai, Sethumadai, Sarkarpathi, etc., damaging agricultural lands. People have been demanding that the elephant be captured and converted into a Kumki elephant.



In this situation, the forest department caught the elephant in Saralapathi area yesterday morning by injecting it with an anesthetic injection.



The Makhna elephant was loaded by truck with the help of kumki elephant.



Following this, they brought it to Chinnakallar forest area in Valparai area and dropped it from a lorry near the bus stand near the public settlement and chased it into the forest area.

The public is apprehensive that the elephant may come back into the settlement as it has been released near the settlement.
