Man pelts stones at Coimbatore collectorate

A man from Assam climbed on to the roof of the treasury office at the Collectorate in Coimbatore and threw down tiles, stones and pipes at pedestrians who were walking downstairs.



Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a man from north India climbed on to the roof of the Collectorate in Coimbatore and attacked others with tiles, stones and pipes.



A man from north India, without a shirt, threw down tiles, stones and pipes lying on the terrace of the treasury office functioning behind the collectorate premises in Coimbatore.

Shocked by this, the public immediately informed the police.



The police and fire and rescue services personnel who rushed to the spot then climbed on top of the treasury office and caught hold of him.



They then tied his arms and legs with a rope and brought him down.



An investigation is underway to find out how the person from the northern state, Vikash, who hails from Assam and is said to be mentally retarded, climbed up.



He threw stones from the terrace causing minor injuries to a civilian. At the same time, he suffered injuries on his body and was taken to a government hospital for treatment.
