Two days ago, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) had seized Kerala state registered trucks in Dharapuram area of Tirupur district alleging that lorry owners from Kerala were plying red-load trucks without proper permission and without permits for chambers.
In this situation, nine Kerala state-run trucks carrying red soil were stopped and detained by the public near Nalini College roundabout on Palani Road in Dharapuram without proper permission.
Later, Dharapuram Tahsildar and police were informed about this.
Dharapuram Tahsildar Jagajothi Dharapuram Police Station Inspector Manikandan rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry.
Nine trucks carrying red mud loads have also been seized and parked at the divisional officer's office.
Dharapuram city revenue inspector Saravanan lodged a complaint with the police and action will be taken on the basis of the complaint, the officials said.
Nine trucks worth Rs 5 crore were seized in Dharapuram.
