Woman councillor, her husband and son hacked to death in Malumichampatti

Chitra (44), a resident of Avvai Nagar, Malumichampatti, Coimbatore (a councillor of ward number 3) her husband Ravikumar (47) and son Mohan (24) was hacked by Raja (24) of Ambedkar Nagar in Malumichampatti, along with four others.


A woman councillor, her husband and son were hacked to death with a sickle by a group of miscreants in the 3rd ward of Malumichampatti panchayat in Coimbatore.

Chitra (44), a resident of Avvai Nagar, Malumichampatti, Coimbatore, is a councillor of ward number 3. While she was at home last night, a group of five people suddenly came wearing masks. Chitra, her husband Ravikumar (47) and son Mohan (24) were hacked to death with a sickle and fled.

The three injured were rescued by the neighbours and sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital by ambulance.



The Chettipalayam police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. According to preliminary investigations, Chitra had purchased 3.5 cents of land six months ago, but the broker did not pay for it.

Raja (24) of Ambedkar Nagar in Malumichampatti, along with four others, came to Chitra's house and started shouting slogans demanding money and hacked them to death with a sickle. The police have seized the sickles from the spot and are on the lookout for five unidentified persons, including Raja, who escaped.
